Latinos have been treated different by Americans because of their origin. They have been denied housing, employment, and education. Americans mistreat Latinos as if they are new to this country when they were actually here first. The el Movimiento Chicano(Chicano Movement) started to fight against discrimination towards Mexican Americans. Latino students went on strike for cultural courses, better facilities, and Latino teachers and counselors. The UFW was formed to help migrant farm workers feel equal. Still to this day Latinos are not being treated equally and neither are any other ethnic minorities.

Immigrants from countries such as Japan and China faced a lot of discrimination since they came to the United States. During the World War II Japanese were put in camps and lost a lot. Many things such as: money, farms, homes, and citizenship. Due to the attack on Pearl Harbor the United States feared Japanese. Japanese did not give up, they fought for their rights forming a group called Japanese American Citizens League, better known as the JACL. In 1948, they won the Japanese American claims act.Native Americans were also discriminated against. They faced unique problems and they felt they had to solve those problems. They began to take action with land claims as well as legal rights. This lead to the formation of the American Indian Movement, which was an organization that was formed to fight for Indian treaty rights, better conditions and opportunities. TheAIM took action comforting the government for self government. Then, they waited for the governments response, which lead to laws being passed in 1970, that favored Native American rights. The Kennedy and Johnson administrations tried to bring jobs and income to the Indians reservations by moving industries onto their land. Native Americans still keep going to win legal battles to regain land, mineral ,and their water rights.
